I think most Americans are looking forward to Election Day. But it’s not because they are so civic-minded or because they are psyched up to spend endless hours in the company of George Stephanopoulos and friends. It’s just that we’re all sick of the ads (radio, TV, print – pick your poison, it doesn’t matter), along with the pundits and pollsters, the analysts and talking heads. I’m tired of coming home at the send of the day and seeing I have four new voicemails, only to be disappointed when three turn out to be automated recordings advising me on how to vote. Sorry, Clint, I liked “A Fistful of Dollars,†but I haven’t followed your recent career so closely and you aren’t my expert source on election issues.
In fact, I sent in my absentee ballot last week, so nothing can influence my vote at this point anyway. No matter how fed up you are with the campaigning, don’t show your frustration by refusing to participate in the process. Get out there and exercise your right to vote.
